Homosexual Married Couple Files For Divorce

Just one month after announcing that she and her wife of three years, Dr. Lara Embry, are going their separate ways, Jane Lynch has officially filed for divorce in an L.A. County Court, TMZ reports. 

The Glee actress, 52, cited "irreconcilable differences" as the reason for the couple's split. The documents state that the pair have been separated since this past February.

"Lara and I have decided to end our marriage," Lynch said in a statement to Us magazine in June 2013. "This has been a difficult decision for us as we care very deeply about one another. We ask for privacy as we deal with this family matter."

Lynch and Embry, 44, tied the knot in a ceremony in Sunderland, Mass. in June 2010, less than one year after meeting at a gala for the National Center for Lesbian Rights.

According to the legal documents, the couple did not have a prenuptial agreement that spelled out how they would divide their marital assets in the event of a divorce. They will therefore split their marital assets 50/50. The pair have no children together (Embry has two daughters Haden and Chase).
Lynch is also filing to terminate the court's jurisdiction to award Embry with spousal support, formally called alimony, , TMZ reports. The actress, who currently stars on the Broadway production of Annie: The Musical, has already moved out of their shared Laurel Canyon home in Los Angeles, California

     LOS ANGELES (CN) - An administrative law judge (ALJ) for the NLRB and his husband sued U.S. Customs and Border Protection for $3 million, claiming an officer asked to see their marriage certificate at the border, and assaulted them when they complained.
     William Kocol and Timothy Gajewski sued Several Unnamed U.S. Customs and Border Protection Officers in Federal Court, alleging assault and battery, unlawful detention, slander, intentional infliction of emotional distress, and constitutional violations.
     Kocol, an administrative law judge (ALJ) for the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB), and Gajewski, an architect, were legally married in Beverly Hills in 2008.
     They claim that CBP officers singled them out in December 2012 at Los Angeles International airport after a trip to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico.
     After Kocol handed a Customs officer a Customs card "indicating that he was the 'head of household,' and was traveling with one family member," the plaintiffs say they were asked to explain their relationship.
     "Plaintiff Gajewski said 'husband' and then plaintiff Kocol also said 'husband,'" the complaint states.
     The officer "shook his head in disapproval and after a few seconds plaintiff Kocol said, 'Yes, this was California and we are legally married,'" according to the complaint.
     The officer asked to see their marriage certificate, and refused to allow them to enter the United States, the couple says.
     "At that point plaintiff Kocol asked to see his supervisor and plaintiff Gajewski said that he was sure that CBPO 'A' does not ask a straight married couple to produce a copy of their marriage certificate," the complaint states.
     The plaintiffs say the officer motioned for the next man and woman in line to step forward. Kocol and Gajewski protested, and were soon surrounded by five armed CBP officers and separated.
     Kocol claims that one of the officers "put his right hand against plaintiff Kocol's upper back, grabbed his left hand and began to forcefully push him into the room."
     Inside the room, the officer "twisted him around and pushed him down into a row of chairs, to his great personal discomfort," the complaint states.
     Gajewski told CBPO Officer D: "'This is bullshit; do you treat every married couple this way?' 'This is my government being homophobic.'"
     When Gajewski walked toward the room where Kocol was detained, the CBP officer "grabbed his wrist and twisted it backwards behind his back," the complaint states.
     The defendants returned Gajewski's and Kocol's passports after Kocol told them he was a federal judge, and that he intended to contact the Human Rights Campaign, and the Gay and Lesbian Center.
     The plaintiffs say the officer who eventually processed their passports apologized, and told them: "'Some people can't seem to change with the times.'"
     They seek more than $1 million in general damages, and more than $2 million in punitive damages.
     They are represented by Scott McKee of West Hollywood.

Famed Johns Hopkins pediatric neurosurgeon Dr. Ben Carson has withdrawn as this year's graduation speaker for the university, giving in to student demands after controversial remarks he made about gay marriage last month.
"Given all the national media surrounding my statements as to my belief in traditional marriage, I believe it would be in the best interests of the students for me to voluntarily withdraw as your commencement speaker this year," Carson said in an email to Hopkins medical school dean Paul Rothman, according to the Washington Post. "My presence is likely to distract from the true celebratory nature of the day. Commencement is about the students and their successes, and it is not about me."
Carson, who has been a steady media presence since his headline-making National Prayer Breakfast speech in February, sparked controversy after he seemed to compare gay relationships with bestiality and pedophilia during a TV interview two weeks ago.
"Marriage is between a man and a woman," Carson said on Fox News' "Hannity." "It's a well-established, fundamental pillar of society and no group, be they gays, be they NAMBLA, be they people who believe in bestiality -- it doesn't matter what they are, they don't get to change the definition."
Following his remarks, Hopkins students took up a petition for a new speaker, calling his views, "incongruous with the values of Johns Hopkins and deeply offensive to a large proportion our student body."
(As Paul told Timothy, "In the last days, perilous times shall come. For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, ..unthankful, unholy, unloving, unloving, unforgiving, slanderous, without natural affection, .. despisers of good, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God...They will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires because they have itching ears, wanting to hear that which pleases them. They will turn away their ears from the truth, and turning to fables." (2 Tim. 3,4) Today this scripture is fulfilled in front of our eyes.
Carson offered an apology on TV several days later, saying he "never had any intention of offending anyone." He apologized again last week in an email to the whole Johns Hopkins community, writing that his "poorly chosen words caused pain for some members of our community and for that I offer a most sincere and heartfelt apology."
Carson's second apology came the same day Rothman issued a statement calling Carson's comments "inconsistent with the culture of our institution" and saying he would meet with students who wanted him out as graduation speaker.
